This guide is general information for foreign clients. It is not a substitute for advice on a specific Turkish legal matter.
The power of attorney should match the task
A power for inheritance, property sale, litigation or company matters may require different wording. A generic document can be too broad or not useful enough.
Consular and notarized routes differ
Foreign clients may prepare a power of attorney through a Turkish consulate or through local notarization with apostille and translation, depending on the country and matter.
Banks and registries may have their own expectations
Even a legally valid power may need practical coordination with banks, land registries or authorities. The required scope should be checked before signing.
Limit unnecessary authority
A good power of attorney gives enough authority to complete the legal work but should avoid unnecessary powers where they are not needed.
